Bitter Sweet Good Eats

Tonight is most likely the last regular episode of Good Eats. When announcing Alton Brown's contract renewal last month, Food Network's press release stated AB was moving on to develop another project while continuing his role as Iron Chef America commentator. For fans of GE, there are still three one-hour specials to look forward to but alas, Use Your Noodle 5 appears to be the final episode in the long running show.

For me, it has been more than just GE. I have enjoyed ICA and Feasting on Asphalt and Waves just as much. I am most certainly a fan of Mr. Brown for ALL that he gives his fans, not just one show at one time.

While it is sad to see the best cooking show on TV, and possibly ever, end I know that AB will still give us great projects in the future.

Best of luck Alton on whatever is next, ICA, Next Iron Chef and everything!

This devoted fan looks forward what's next and has confidence those will be great projects as well.

Wait a minute: Of all those times AB ever said "That's another show," did he ever do that other show? I think we are owed at least a few of the other shows before he gets to leave!

Good Eats got me interested in cooking and has made me a quite passable home chef. I'm sad to see it formally ending.

Wonderful send off, Lisa. I wish that he could see this.

@Spike, he's addressed a few of the "That's Another Show" topics but certainly not all of them. In Cleveland last year, he even said he owes the fans a season of "That's Another Show" topics. LOL

All good things must come to an end. If he doesn't say good-bye formally tonight, then perhaps one of the one-hour specials may be a retrospective and a better farewell.

Maybe it's time for all of us to share what we've made of AB's terrific applications! I mean, if you haven't tried 40 cloves of garlic and a chicken, you really should! I even posted pics on my Facebook page. And that encouraged a cousin to try it.

@Kathy - oddly enough, that HAS been one of the dishes I've made, and yes, the garlic smell was amazing. I had to figure out how to cook the chicken in the oven however, because I didn't have a pan that could go in there at the time lol. And you're right; maybe one of his specials will be that... I can only hope, since he didn't do it this time!! ugh.

A shout out to the Hawaiian shirts and turning the light out at the last scene, nice way to end. I also loved the Animal House jokes!
