Signed Good Eats 2 Giveaway

A couple of weeks ago when I attended the demo Alton Brown did in Marietta, Ga., I got this book signed for a giveaway, it is a copy of Good Eats: The Middle Years. AB left up to the winner to place his or her name on the book.

To get the book:

Leave a comment about your favorite thing regarding Good Eats. It can be anything you like, but keep it nice and keep it clean.

After leaving said comment, you will have to send your comment (so I can match it) and name (the one you posted under) to this email: contest@altonbrownfans.com so I can email the lucky winner the good news.

For an extra entry, become a fan of the AB Geeks Facebook page and leave a comment under the offical giveway thread there too. If you're already a fan of the page, just comment on the thread.

The contest is open until 11:59 p.m. (eastern time) March 20, 2011.

The legal stuff:

Contest is open to US and Canada residents only. Winner must reply within three days of notification.

Good Luck! :)

Lisa!

I am a fellow Alton Brown fan and have been ever since my parents decided to get cable TV. At first I was just a kid that really enjoyed food but really knew nothing about it. I learned so much from Good Eats all the way from the basics to more technical techniques. I love the way he is able to deliver brilliant recipes in a unique way. The science and humor about it all is also great!

Thanks for the opportunity, and I love your blog! Keep it up!

I love trying the recipes. Especially the one's where he has little tricks to make sure things turn out well. My favorite trick was when he was making sugar cookies (The Cookie Clause) where he pointed out to use powdered sugar instead of flower when rolling out the dough.

I'm simple, but my favorite thing about Good Eats is the Yeast sock puppets . As a teacher, visuals like that really get people interested and they'll remember long after the lesson is over

He says "Thusly" at least once per episode. It cracks me up. If there were a Good Eats drinking game it should be in it.

I absolutely love how this show is so different than all other cooking shows! I learn so much about foods I've never heard of, and it gives me courage to try to make new things. It's ok if I don't get the book, I just wanted to say that this show is my all time favorite out of anything I could ever watch!

Sincerely,

Andrea Smith

I love the show I have loved cooking since I was a kid. But your show was an inspiration to my existence. No seriously, the way you explained what you were making and how what ever that food creation worked and combined was the best part of my day. I learned so much from your show. I took a cooking class in high school and I had a project that I got to use one of you episodes as an example to help me explain how yeast is so awesome from beer to bread. You really changed my life.
Love always one of your biggest fans,

Katy yniguez

My favorite thing about Good Eats are the gadgets. I now always look at a new product and determine whether or not it's a unitasker. I'm also determined at some point in the future to own a gunmetal Kitchen Aid mixer with flames.

Good Eats is special for being not only head and shoulders above any thing on FN but anything on television. Never boring, never being the same old, same old ideas. Good Eats always presents a new and different way to look at cooking and always shows people I would like to meet.

Thanks AB

Not so much for the recipes but I love the show for science aspect.
The show should be also shown on the science channel in my opinion.
My favorite episode is "Eat this Rock!"

Science you can eat, FTW!

AB approaches cooking they way that I approach everything I do in life, the geekiest way possible. It's never enough to know that some proceedure works, I have to know HOW it works. Often he creates something that I would never consider eating but I watch anyways because I know the technique will come in handy in another application later. All of my culinary knowledge is owed to Good Eats!

My favorite thing about Alton Brown's Good Eats is the science behind every episode and recipe. I love how he explains what's going on inside the food as its cooking, and the diagrams/animations he uses for it are great!

I love that the show is a perfect balance of practial science information, Cooking how to, and humor. This makes the show both informative and entertaining. Know how ingredients work and interact together is very appealing to me and the humor makes the knowledge easy to remember. I enjoy watching Alton on any of the shows he is on but Good eats was my first and will always be my favorite.

I love how the science behind things... and just plain "why" you do something one way as opposed to another is always presented by Alton. I'm not only learning to cook a meal... but learning how to build on what I know.

To me Good Eats is the perfect balance of practical science information, cooking how-to, and humor. Knowing how ingredients work and interact together appeals to me. The humor helps me remember the concept being presented. I really enjoy Alton’s personality as well. I like him on everything he is on, but Good Eats what the first thing I ever saw him on and is still my favorite.

Alton Brown has always been a big hit in our home, Good Eats to Feasting series, etc.. But, my 10 yr. old son is an ablsolute FAN. He records all the shows and tries lot's of the ideas in our kitchen (bonus). Last year AB was speaking in Austin, when we got down there we found out that it was a charity event and all the tickets had been purchased in advance and were sold out. We stood outside for a while, but no luck. I have never seen him so broken hearted.... Even so, AB is the reason my son wants to become a chef.

Thanks for this blog!

Alton, what a genius! Good Eats is what made the food channels what they are today and he deserves a huge pat on the back from all of them! When I first started watching him I was a little, lets say, intimidated by his intelligence and his looks reminded me of someone. Then it hit me, Alton and my brother in law look just alike! My brother in law passed away from cancer the same year my husband and I began watching Alton. I believe in some odd way it helped my husband, we've watch every episode! He is a Master Chef who the world has become to love; his humor, intelligence and his passion for food. Alton Brown is Good Eats for the brain.

I love Good Eats, it's the best cooking food show ever! Makes science fun.

Alton Brown has changed my life. I used to be a so so cook and we lived a so so life. Since watching Good Eats I have learned to cook DELICIOUS food- I love how he explains the chemistry and science behind the food with all his funky props. They are the best. I love it!!!

2 things:

I would have few blog entries if it weren't for Alton Brown. Plus, his step-by-step, scientific perspective has given me the confidence to try all kinds of zany things - like baking. ha! I may be agoodcooker, but I'm a baaad baker!

What I love about Good Eats is the science behind it. I've always been a little nerdy and the explanations of schientifically why things cook like they do is awesome!!! I can't wait until my son is old enough to understand it.

Kaysie said...

I love Good Eats because of the way the science is explained. I've always been a little nerdy and not very good at cooking but knowing the science behind everything is super helpful. I can't wait until my son is old enough to understand the show!

My favorite thing about Good Eats is that, although not always 100% perfectly accurate, it has way more of a scientific approach to cooking than any other show I know.

Keep up the Good Eats Love!

I'm a chef and have loved Alton since day one (prolly Middle School) and I've always loved his technical explanations with visuals. I always knew what I wanted to do when I grew up but he helped make it certain....

I love how accessible AB makes both food and science, using intelligence and humor to do so. A sad number of my friends or my friend's families clime to hate science and/or cooking, and sitting them down to watch Good Eats is how I show them the error of their ways. This method has yet to let me down! How can anyone hate cooking OR science, when it's presented to you in a Scottish brogue, Ken and Barbie, and entire scenes from Monty Python??

As a dude, I love his man shows and the visuals he uses to show why certain combinations react the way they do. It's fascinating to me.

I also love the gadgets. It's like going into a hardware store for man toys!
