What an outfit! When he lost weight he went from a young man to an old fogie. And I mean that in the nicest possible way! But gosh, I miss the bowling shirts/Hawaiian shirts lol And I just have to point out - he looks bad in plaid. It's just not him lol

Alton has changed in more ways than just weight. He seems to have had all the spark and humor go out of him. He's turned into the cranky old fogie it seems. All the talk of blogs being tar babies has pretty much put me off AB entirely.

@Justine that's why I believe that this is his last season of Good Eats. I've seen it rumored somewhere, and if you do the math, it fits. Each book has roughly 80 episodes. His last book, Tomorrow & Beyond, should have roughly 80 episodes. If he ends his show at 250, which would be this season, then this is it. So far, this season has been... not as unique as the past. I think he's lost a lot of steam. He is 48 after all. He wants it to be over.

48 isn't exactly an age where you want to go off on an ice floe and die! :)

(Over beloved legislators have decided we can all work full time until we are 67.)

I do agree though. He needs to go far away from the public now. He's had enough. I read the live chat transcript and he was downright nasty.

I appreciate the effort our host on this blog. I've enjoyed the info.

Ok, everyone, hang on. Let me say, first of all, that I too, was disappointed by the chat. He did seem tired, cranky and out of sorts. I will give you that. It makes me sad. But, I think this is not something that has happened overnight.
I have said, since last October, when I saw him at a book signing, and someone asked him what was next. He paused, sighed, (and I will NEVER forget this) said, "I'm really not sure what I'll do next.
And there seemed to be a fear there. I understand that feeling very well.
Yeah, maybe he has changed. I miss the old, puffy AB sometimes, even though I do like the way he looks now.
But even if he has, that doesn't mean I'm going to stop being a fan. (I really hate that word). I mean, to mean, just because he's done a few things I don't like, doesn't mean I'm throwing him out.
I have good thoughts and memories, some of them personal, and that's what will keep me following and supporting what he does.
If he wants to end the show, so be it! I'll miss it, but I'd rather he rest, for as long as he needs to, and come back rested, refreshed and happy.
I wish he would acknowledge all the help Lisa has given him. Maybe some day he will, I am an eternal optimist.
But Alton, if you're reading,
I'm still here. And I want you to take care of yourself.
