Back from seeing Alton Brown

I made it home from the Washington, DC area -- Arlington, Va. to be exact -- this evening after seeing Alton Brown yet again. I had two events this time, one at Sur La Table, which was also the first time I was in one of those stores, and the Smithsonian. Second time there, if you're curious.

The performance at the Smithsonian turned out not to be about Good Eats after all and was AB's current lecture on his 10 food rules to live by. I was a bit disappointed in that. The lecture was great, lots of laughs, but the show was sold as a Good Eats retrospective I hope people didn't plan on this being a lighter version of the show in Atlanta. I didn't matter to me, since I had been to the Anniversary show but others may have been looking forward to that.

Lots to tell later.

Do you ever have anything positive to say about meeting Alton? Seriously?

Looking forward to your new stories, Lisa.

I was so sorry to have missed AB at his Chicago book signing. I was not able to afford a book for him to sign at this time perhaps next time.
(Still out of work)

But I love to hear your stories about your experiences.
You rock chêre Lisa...hugs...

Lisa... did you happen to notice what AB wore on the left lepel of his suit jacket? I'm trying to figure out if it's one of the pins I gave him! I think it looks like the honey bee, but I can't find a good enough pic other than this one on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/wep/4015619692/ :D

I did meet AB that night...but I wasn't really looking at his lapel... :)

Anyway..I think it's a bee, but not the one you gave him.

He may not wear it, considering it's a Disney honeybee pin. He doesn't work for Disney. He often makes a point not to identify with products/companies, except those he's working for. FN, Shun knives, Welchs grape juice.

I know what the lapel pin is, have a better photo of it and some inside information.

Details to follow

Oh bother. ;) Ah well. That just sorta got my hopes up. I wasn't really expecting to "see" any of them.

Wow, I wonder how many people thought they were going to see the 10th Anniv. show? I thought it was odd when I saw the description. Sounds like he did the same lecture from Oakland U.

I think it was the same lecture from Oakland U. That was fine with me since I didn't get to that one ;) But it was supposed to be something about Good Eats, I should have surveyed the crowd on opinion.
