In his travels earlier this year to film the upcoming Next Iron Chef, Alton visited the Land of the Rising Sun and apparently he picked up some new shows in the process.
So at dinner Friday when AB was snapping photos. He took my camera from the table and started playing with it. I asked if I could take a picture of them. Alton asked why. I told him that I overheard they were Japanese Nikes and he grinned at me and said "I'll take a picture of them." He tried to get the writing on the heel to show, but the pant leg covered it. Nevertheless, its a great photo because Alton took it!

That is GREAT! He always wears the coolest shoes and I was wondering what he was sporting this weekend!
Lisa, I know you've met and spoken to AB before this, but I am so living your experience through your stories and photos and it just seems unreal that you were there, with the man, having him take your camera, GRINNING AT YOU for crying out loud, and interacting in such a down to earth way. I wish I had been there, I couldn't afford tickets, but I really want to meet Alton someday. He just seems like one of us, but yet we have learned so much and have been so entertained by him. I never wanted to cook, never had the slightest desire to, never thought twice about things like sustainable seafood, or the value of hospitality in cooking. These are things that AB has made me exited about, I want to thank him for that. Someday. AB you ROCK! Totally digging the shoes too!

I live in Houston, but I would fly anywhere to meet AB. It would be great if he could make an appearance somewhere in the Lone Star State, then I could make a road trip out of it. Until then I'll just save my pennies! :)

At Opryland he mentioned Austin on the tour, it wasn't on the list I got. I need to check on that for the Lone Star folks :)

Love the shoes pic, ya know I didn't even realize that they were Nike I just kept looking at the bright blue color and singing but don't step on my Blue Suade shoes in my head! LOL!!!
