I just finished watching the premiere episode and AB never say word one about store bought biscuits or angel food cake. Was this reporter watching the same program?"Soon, an irate Brown is at the cooks’ table, asking, 'Where did you get the biscuit?' They admit it’s Pillsbury, and he testily explains that they should have made angel food cake." Read it here.
I guess those given an advanced look at the show must have seen the "lost" episode or the director's cut because he never, ever uttered that so-called quote in what just aired. What irresponsible journalism this reporter shows in creating a quote Alton never said and claiming he did something he didn't. There weren't even store bought biscuits served! They couldn't find them!
Sheesh. What crappy reporting!
The reporter owes Alton an apology. I know, I'm sorry I posted that terrible article and believed AB would do such a thing.

Just watched this episode also and AB seemed to be the more respectful of the bunch.
Overall, or at least so far it appears as if they have toned down the smugness for this season. Although I don't care for Suzie's lip implants, I didn't see much cringe-worthy disrespect. Surprise that Aaron McCargo said nothing at all....
AB usually doesn't get as nasty as some of the others. I imagine its hard for him to get that nasty, being Southern and all. :) Plus he's such a nice guy.
I'm actually watching the episode again. There was one scene where AB winced a little when someone said something at the dinner presentation. I think I like the feel of this season better than the last one. Like how Bob said "We are still deciding" hahah! We all know why he stressed that.....
Even though we all know it's a stage show it is fun to imagine along with. I don't think AB would be able to be mean to someone. (Was he even in season 4?)
I know Bobby Flay can exude some attitude but he's a New Yorker at heart and that is just him. But yeah, AB is a Southerner and I don't think we have to worry about seeing him act out of class.... :)
You know... frankly, I think anyone that has anything bad to say about AB is simply jealous of his skillz. (I did the misspelling on purpose. ;) ) Alton just plain rocks & some people don't know how to handle it.
I just watched it too and Debbie didn't even find canned biscuits at the store. although, if there is anything that would piss Alton off, it would be someone faking a biscuit. the "gatekeeper of badness" crack made me laugh.
I wish AB was able to say more he was a bit reserved on the show. I too laughed out loud at the gatekeeper of badness! HA! I cannot even imagine serving the store bought angel food cake on a Food Network challenge, ACK!
Looking forward to future episodes.
Unless AB shows up on another episode, I'm swearing off this train wreak.
None of the contestants appealed to me.
Think its time to head over to Bravo for Top Chef Masters.
I am rooting for Teddy. I love the Throwdown where he beat Bobby Flay with his mussels and fries. they looked soooo good.
I don't know if I'm going to keep on watching it either. This group seems worst than last season's. And that was the bunch Alton asked "Can't we just send all of them home and just start over?"
Can't wait for Top Chef Masters on the 10th.
wow, I don't remember AB saying that about last year's group, when was that?
I think it was the year before... the group with JAG and Amy Findely (who ended up winning).
I laughted my butt off on that. And have pretty much felt the same about the TNFNS every season. :)
