Alton Brown sardine aficionado

Here's a little article on a sardines group looking to get Americans interested in the tiny fish. Alton Brown attended their Sardinista lunch. Must be part of the upcoming World Ocean Day things he's doing tomorrow. His part is near the end of the article, but lots of good info!

The best part of the article, AB said an episode of Good Eats will be on small fish.

This article reminded me of his quip at the Smithsonian event, about sardines being sexy. I'd love for him to use that in the show!

My only experience with the little buggers is from the cans. I remember my mom getting them when I was a kid. Haven't had any since. In the article, AB says he travels with cans of them.

Can't wait for the episode on them. I certainly will give the little fishies a try.

Why, pray tell?

You you think I'll bring along little fishy traveling buddies?

Sardines caught near Portugal or Spain are the best with a meaty tuna flavor. Near me, Italian grocery stores and Whole Foods carry the best brand of Portuguese sardines, BELA-Olhão.
They are really inexpensive, too.

They are wild caught and the skinless and boneless sardines in packed in fine Portugese olive oil are perfection.
BELA-Olhão also has delicious Tuna pasked in the same fine olive oil.

I think that you would really like these. I love them on a fresh summer salad.

I will be doing a blog post on sardines very soon...

Fishy traveling buddies are great as they don't try to tell you how to drive or ask "Are we there yet...?"...lol...

No Whole Foods around me :( but I'll check to see what I can find.

I remember eating them as a kid. So I'll probably still love them since I love most fish.

I think my little fishy traveling buddies might get eaten if they comment too much. ;)
