Pardon me for a moment.
Ok, better now. Had to remove that dagger from my heart.
Yep, somehow, someway 30 Minute Meals potentially has the most outstanding culinary host in TV land. And where's AB on the list?
Nowhere. That's right, not even nominated in the one category he should have a solid lock on. Nor is Good Eats nominated for the best culinary program. But Guy's Big Bite and Giada at Home-boobs and all-are two cooking shows receiving nods for directing and, again, AB is not on the list!
Even Sandra Lee's show got in on the nominations. WTF? Okay, okay, the nominations are for outstanding hair and makeup categories and not cooking... oh, the irony. But still.
How on earth is this any of this possible? How can I live in a world that snubs the best culinary show and best culinary host on the planet? It sucks. Alton deserves a studio full of Emmys!
I wish this wrong could be righted.
How's this?

I feel your pain. This is really hard to believe.
It probably all boils down to how much lobbying is done for a particular show, maybe it's not all that important to Alton.
I hope this is more a matter of Alton thinking it isn't that important rather than he's getting a raw deal.
But if he needs someone to lobby for him and his shows ... well, I'm available! :D
As much as I think AB deserves such an award..there are a couple of reasons probably why he wasn't nominated.
Daytime Emmys are for shows that air before 6 or 7pm (something like that).
Also, as far as getting nominated, nomination within a specific category can only be made by others employed in those same categories. Only actors can nominate actors, only directors can nominate directors.
They probably don't nominate AB because they know they would lose to him!!!
I need to get into the director's guild and nominate AB. ;)
I was guessing the "Daytime Emmy" was what tripped him up since his shows air in primetime.
Lisa,
AB has a nighttime show. And the truth is he is not as exposed and out there with all kinds of kitchen gadgets selling every gizmo under the earth! THANK GOODNESS! :-)
I notice this dis even in bookstores and it use to erk the you know what out of me.
But now I realize hey we are the lucky ones. This let's AB be more personable with his fans. I have had the pleasure of meeting him a few times now and he has an amazing genuine presence with his fans.
If he was ramped up like Rachel Ray we would not be able to go near him. Or certainly not to have one on one time with him.
So in the end maybe it is a blessing if only for us that he is well a little less recognized. And he has admitted he is a quiet guy. Maybe this is as he would want it to be?
That's very true about his action with us fans. :)
But, still, he deserves an Emmy. :)
Regarding this award brouhaha I offer one word...PEABODY. His show is so good it won a freakin Peabody award. those are given for journalistic excellence for cryin out loud. good eats is way above the emmy crowd.
And the only other cooking show to win one of those... The French Chef.
I agree, the Peabody is much better. But an Emmy ain't too shabby. ;)
It's gotta be lobbying. I can see all of those host/shows having lobbiers. (Is that the right word...?)
Nice photo-shopping, Lisa. ;)
Some consolation is I would be he is the only one out of the whole bunch of knuckleheads actually selling DVDs. He has a truckload for sale! Good for him! And I have them all! Rachel Ray is cute but her shows where she actually cooks are dull. Even duller are Sandra Lee - holy crap! Guy just makes me want to punch him square in the face. His shows are idiotic. The Frugal Gourmet made me fall in love with cooking shows and Alton is the new king.
