To say I dislike the Next Food Network Star competition is an understatement, but every season I somehow end up watching it the craptacular thing. Why? Because Food Network has to drag Alton Brown into the mess. No, into the train wreak. Looks like he's set to be on there again this season. According to this article from the Orlando Sentinel, AB will join the merry band of other FN hosts to locate the next big thing. Oy!
I can only hope this season gives us a better crop than last year. When I can answer the culinary questions posed to these potential Food Network stars and they can't I seriously question what is happening. Come on last year's "winner" didn't know what a chipotle chile was... and this guy has a cooking show now? Sheesh!
And more importantly, I can only hope AB will not be on the first episode. That happened last year and I got sucked into the stupid show.

Squinty McHeadtilt (Lisa) got off on the completely wrong foot with me last season because she clashed with Alton in the first episode. Throughout the rest of the season, she managed to prove that first impressions are, at least some of the time, correct. Gosh, she annoyed me.
Oh I know. She struck out with me right away, LOL
Then, her name just had to be Lisa... oh the horror!!! :P
I so wasn't a Lisa fan either. Maybe we should call her "the other Lisa?" LOL
I loved it when Alton said "Can we just send them all home and start over again?" Hopefully this year there will be better pickings.
I loved that comment from AB too, Pluff. Proves AB is a wise man.
WOW, where was I last season?? I totally do not remember AB saying that, that's very funny. I did think that Shane had some potential, but he cried in the very first episode, never good.
I think that line was in the from the year before, the one when Amy Findley won
