A little tell (show, if you have photos) session!I've been a Good Eats/AB fan since 2001 when I first got Directv and had access to FN.
I can't say exactly which was my first recipe, but I know pizza dough and the chewy chocolate chip cookies were around the first GE recipes I tried. By Thanksgiving, I tried the brined turkey. Earlier on, I know watching the show was more important to me than the recipes because I wanted to soak up the techniques and knowledge first. Then I felt confident enough to try some things. Alton helped my realize I loved to cook but I didn't know a lot about what was happening in the process.
Although I've made many dishes from the show, over 80 at last count, there are tons of recipes from the early shows I still want to try. The other day, watching the dip show, Alton mentioned the chocolate mousse from the first show on chocolate. I still need to make that! So there are many, many more recipes to try!
Ok, so its the show and tell portion of the program! Instead of reading me yak on and on, tell me what was the first recipe of AB's you attempted. :)

My first recipe from AB that I experimented with is the Chewey Chocolate chip cookies! They are super good, I say experiment because my own version adds shredded coconut to the mixture.
I agree Alton has made cooking easier and fun for me. I use to be a dismal cook at best and now I am getting the hang of it! And I am loving it in the process. So for that alone I am eternally grateful!
Hey EB I experimented with the Chewies too! Made some peanut butter cookies out of them... but that's another post... lol
I've been planing on making some white chocolate & macadamia cookies with the dough.
Hi everyone!! Holly the Miami correspondent here! I don't remember the first recipe, but as I post this comment, I am thoroughly enjoying AB's Ramen Radiator from I'm Just Here For the Food v2.0. Delicious, as always, thanks AB :)
I made the cocoa mix first. Love that stuff. I will never buy pre-made cocoa mix again.
I've tried the pizza dough, too, although mine didn't turn out quite like yours did. I did attempt it. LOL
Hey, Holly... that's me too... I don't really remember the first recipe but I know it was either the cookies or the pizza dough. ;)
MysteryWriter (aka, L)... I have seen the print out of the hot cocoa recipe so I know you and it go way back. :)
Keep practicing the pizza dough!
You mentioned that you've been an AB fan since '01. I don't remember when I first started watching. We got cable in '06, so somewhere along there. I stumbled on the show quite by accident, but was hooked the very first day. I've always been the sort of learner that has to know why to understand.
The first AB recipe that I made (I think) was his Baked Macaroni and Cheese. My husband is a huge mac and cheese fan. Wow, was is good. In fact, it's been a little while since I've made it. Supper tonight? Not too long after that we did the turkey brine. Living the in Deep South, everyone fries their turkeys. Ours far surpasses all others.
I was hooked from the first time I saw Good Eats too! Alton presented the info in such a different way, I loved it. Loved the teaching aspect of the show.
The baked mac and cheese rocks! I'm not a huge mac and cheese fan, but that recipe is awesome.
